WG asks if our 21st century is not at critical “turning points” – since 1970, the resurgence of global warfare, pandemics, and “great” financial crises; human numbers surging from four to eight billion and now a million a week moving into cities; global economies expanding from $4B to $100B, yet public debt to 100% of GDP; the Living Planet Index warning that vertebrate and invertebrate Nature may be in severe stress or decline? Can civilization overcome vicious cultural and political competitions and re-connect with a deeper, universal human heritage? Can Earth’s vital natural worlds and creatures be preserved and replenished?
“Economy” grows from the “free human creative-destructive value response” empowered by knowledge, willpower, and entrepreneurial passion rather than “labor,” “commodities,” or “capital.” Humans no longer merely “evolve,” but rather emerge suddenly, transformatively.
